Summer Lovin 13 – Challenge Post (Page 99)

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
415 pages

Page 99 is written through the eyes of Amy Elliott Dunne. On this page Amy and Nick are sitting down to breakfast and Nick is interrupted by a call from his twin sister. It seems that Amy is perturbed by the interruption and monologues about the relationship issues that Nick’s twin has. She is ready to listen to the latest break-up story, when Nick comes out of the kitchen and tells Amy his mom is sick with stage 4 cancer. Amy is sorry she felt so upset and asks if there is something they should do. Nick then tells Amy his dad has Alzheimer’s and he had been keeping it a secret. Little does he know that Amy has a secret of her own.

This page is probably not the best bring ‘em in page, but I kept reading just to see what the context was…. It was worth it!! Grab this one if you get a chance and check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

About Melanie

I am an avid reader and enjoy many different genres. I lean mostly towards fantasy, fiction, paranormal romance, and science fiction but I don’t discriminate :) I’m a mother of two wonderful kids who keep me busy, but give me many chances to delve into a good book. I read whenever I can, while waiting at dance class, choir practices, Girl Scout meetings and ortho appointments. I inherited my love for reading from my mother, and have passed my reading gene down to my oldest daughter Kaylee.

  1. Ah! I still haven’t read this book. But I want too. It’s awesome that you kept going just to see what was going on. I had to try really hard to stop at my Page 99. But I definitely moved my book up my TBR.
